My photography style is relaxed and informal and the images tend to follow your life and the true interactions with your loved ones, which gives them that unique “fly on the wall”, photojournalistic feel. Life isn’t flawless and I am not out to look for that “flawless traditional portrait” I am looking to capture people's real character and see everyone just as they truly are – beautiful, cheeky and real.

The portrait session normally takes about 2 – 3 hrs and it is be done in the comfort of your own home and it includes an hour of outdoor fun on the beach, or in the garden/park.
Some of the best images are captured in that “play time”. Afternoon’s soft light tends to be the best for outdoor pictures and don’t be scared of a little rain, jumping in puddles is always a favourite with kids and adults alike!
I aim to shoot using natural light rather than with flash, helping to produce natural, relaxed and honest images which capture the essence of family life. But if your home lacks natural light, then don’t worry - I will bring the studio to you!!! I have two studio lights that offer great results regardless of the light quality in your home and will easily turn elements of your home into a beautifully lit scene! Using your personal items in the pictures is what makes them special to you
A large reflector is also used indoors and out to bounce light as needed. I can easily turn elements of your home into a beautifully lit scene!
For the shoot I would recommend that you choose clothes that you feel comfortable in. Simple and informal clothing, in plain, settled colours work best. Accessories like hats, shoes umbrellas and your kid’s favourite toy or blanket work very well and liven up the images. The more choice of outfits you have, the easier it is to pick out the right ones. If having a group photo, think about coordinating the colours between each other.

When you call to book your session, we will discuss what your hopes from the portrait sessions are and how you and your family would like to be photographed. Don’t worry if you don’t have a clear idea just yet, on the day we can take as much time as you need to go over the details.
I usually take bookings 1-2 weeks in advance, sometimes longer if we are drawing closer to a holiday period.
Baby bump sessions are best done 3-4 weeks before your due date and baby sessions – within 4 weeks of births. With an advance notice of your due date I will be sure to hold a space in my calendar for you.
I take 50% deposit (usually via paypal) to secure each booking. If you need to change the date of your session, please try to give me as much notice as possible.
After the session, I will edit the best images of the day and arrange a time for you to view them and choose and buy your favourites. In addition to prints, beautiful albums, photo books, gallery wrapped canvases, museum mounted prints, collages, greeting cards and many other photo gifts are available
I am available for bookings Lancashire, Ayrshire and Midlothian, but will also travel throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe with reasonable notice. Travel charges may occur.

I don't like complicating things so all my portraits sessions have just ONE set price -
Single person - only £99 or £149 for groups of up to 6 people.
The set price covers the following:
An initial phone of face to face consultation. This is the time
when we decide what direction you want your photo shoot to take
and what you expectations of the outcome are.
Indoor, Outdoor (or a mixture of both) photo shoot of up to 4 hrs and unlimited wardrobe changes, the more, the better!!
Image postproduction: editing, cropping, airbrushing,
all that hard work that goes behind the scenes and makes your portraits that "little bit" more special
An online password-protected gallery of all your edited images
after 2 weeks of your session, where you can browse, show your family and choose your favourites for printing
There is no time pressure or hard sell.I hope my images speak for themselves. You are under no obligation to buy any of the images we produce and if you can't make your mind up, don't worry, I will keep your images in my archives for up to a year after our session.
There is a no-quibble guarantee: if you are not happy with any of the images at the viewing, I will happily re-schedule a new photo-session or return your payment.
